AUSTIN, Minn.--The Janesville Jets and Austin (Minn.) Bruins showed Friday and Saturday that they are evenly matched teams early in the NAHL season.

Janesville was just a bit better.

The teams played an overtime game Friday, which Janesville won 3-2.

They went even further Saturday night, going into a shootout after regulation and overtime ended 1-1. The Jets once again prevailed, winning 2-1 in the shootout.

Regan Cavanagh scored on the Jets’ first attempt in the shootout, and goalie Garrett Nieto stopped all three attempts by Austin for the victory.

Christophe Fillion scored the Jets’ only goal in regulation. His shot at the 8:27 mark of the third period got past Austin goalie Alex Schilling.

Nieto kept his team in the game, making 38 saves in regulation and overtime.
