Complaint alleges armed robbery in Janesville woman's kitchen
JANESVILLE—A man with a gun entered a home in the city's Fourth Ward neighborhood last Thursday and robbed a woman at gunpoint, according to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court this week.
The suspect wanted to rob the resident of marijuana, according to another woman who allegedly accompanied the man during the robbery.
Alfonso Jarrett, 38, of 221 N. Franklin St. Apt. C, Janesville, is charged with armed robbery in the incident.
The complaint states officers were called to the 300 block of Linn Street at 6 pm. and were told a man had robbed a woman in her home and fled on foot.
The woman said a man and woman entered her kitchen, with her children present, and the man pointed a gun at her and took her purse.
The woman who accompanied the man told police that Jarrett told her he wanted to rob the woman of her marijuana and told her he would give her $50 for coming along, according to the complaint.
The woman apparently drove Jarrett to the home but then got nervous about how serious the confrontation got and left without Jarrett, according to the complaint.
A neighbor said a woman ran out of the house and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, and the woman said she sprayed him because he tried to grab her, according to the complaint.
Police arrested Jarrett at 3:42 a.m. Monday at Casey's General Store, 1542 Center Ave., Janesville, according to the complaint.
Jarrett was held on a $10,000 bond after his initial appearance in Rock County Court on Tuesday.
