Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck

EVANSVILLEA pedestrian died after being struck by a truck Tuesday, according to an Evansville Police Department news release.

Around 10 a.m., a truck traveling west on West Main Street turned left onto North Fourth Street and hit the unidentified pedestrian. The truck continued south a short distance before stopping, according to the release.

The pedestrian was taken to Mercy Health and Trauma Center in Janesville and pronounced dead. The driver was taken to SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital-Janesville, according to the release.

The intersection was closed for about 3 hours. The crash remains under investigation, according to the release.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit, Janesville Fire Department, Footville EMS and Evansville police and fire departments responded to the scene.

The pedestrian's identity will be released by the Rock County Medical Examiner's Department after the family is notified, according to the release.
