October 22, 1930 - September 24, 2017

Our mother, Joyce “the voice” C. Amundson, 86, of Edgerton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Edgerton Care Center. Mom was born on October 22, 1930, in Waterloo, WI to the late Harold and Willie Carrier. When mom decided to go outside the home to work, she worked for the Edgerton School District, starting as a cook in the kitchen. After a few years of that, the position of Secretary to the Principal opened, and she was hired for that. She kept that position for 35 years. She loved the Athletic Department. She went to many games, home and away. Many students would come to call her “Joyce the Voice” because of all the announcements she had to make over the intercom.

Mom had a very active life. She loved to travel, play cards, go fishing and just spending time with all of her family. Throughout her long battle with cancer, she maintained her sense of humor. Everyone who came in contact with her came to love her.

Surviving mom are her five children: Jim (Linda) Amundson, Linda (Larry) Hrubes, Richard (Julie) Amundson, Robert (Cindy) Amundson and Robin (Bob) Larsen. She also had 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; and many other relatives.

Her funeral will be on Thursday, September 28, 2017, 12 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place before the service from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Edgerton High School Athletic Department. Albrecht Funeral Home is in charge of making the arrangements.
