Town of Beloit residence a total loss after fire
TOWN OF BELOIT—A residence is considered a total loss Monday after a residential fire that is believed to be accidental, according to a Town of Beloit Fire Department news release.
The town of Beloit and town of Turtle fire departments were dispatched at 2:37 p.m. to 839 Erin Circle. An off-duty firefighter had reported heavy smoke visible from blocks away, according to the release.
Firefighters confirmed all people and pets were out of the home and then worked to extinguish the fire. Crews also extinguished a grass fire and a garden shed fire at a neighbor's home, according to the release.
It took more than three hours to put out the fire. The home is destroyed, and damage is estimated to be $275,000.
The cause is under investigation, but it is believed to be an accident.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation, according to the release.
Personnel from the town of Beloit, town of Turtle, city of Beloit, Orfordville, Clinton, Janesville, Evansville, Footville, Darien, Monroe, Edgerton, Mercy MD-1 and five Illinois departments responded to the incident.
