Jets finish with 3-1 record at Showcase

In an instant, the Janesville Jets wrapped up a successful North American Hockey League Showcase tournament Saturday.

Alec Semandel scored off assists from captain Kip Hoffmann and assistant captain Jakov Novak, and the Jets beat the Minot Minotaurs 1-0 in overtime in Blaine, Minnesota.

Janesville went 3-1 in the tournament and is 4-1 to open the season.

Semandel scored on a power play that extended over from regulation when Minot was whistled for boarding with 16 seconds remaining.

Jets goalie Garrett Nieto made 28 saves to post his first shutout and improve to 3-0.

Janesville hosts the Minnesota Magicians on Friday and Saturday in its home-opening series at the Janesville Ice Arena.
