Harlan "Harley" Steindl, Evansville/Janesville, WI

Harlan “Harley” DeLyle Steindl passed on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Cedar Crest Health Center. Born in Janesville WI the son of Albert and Francis (Kelly) Steindl. On June 29, 1961, he married the love of his life, LaVella Mary Carr. Harlan loved to dance, the tune didn’t matter, he never missed a beat. Harlan worked at General Motors for 37 years, and retired as a skilled tradesman tin-smith. Harlan served as an alderperson with the City of Evansville. He was an avid sportsman who loved to fish, hunt, bowl and golf. Harlan made many trips out west, hunting big game. He enjoyed playing a serious game of cards, especially cribbage, euchre and dirty clubs being some of his favorites. He read the book of Hoyle! He enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers.

Harlan is survived by his children, Sandra (Lindemann-Van Galder) Poffenberger, and Alan Steindl, both of Evansville, Darrell Steindl and Vicki (Dan) Oaks, both of Edgerton, and Michael (Michelle) Steindl of Madison Lakes, MN; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte (Andre) Reavis of Beloit; and brother, Arthur Steindl of Chama, NM; special friend, Debbie Furgeson of Janesville; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVella; a son, Harlan Jr.; his parents; and sisters, Eldora Mani and Viola Roettger.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home, Evansville, with Reverend Gary Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
