Clinton juvenile arrested as last suspect in August arson
CLINTON -- The final suspect in the arson of a church-owned house in August was arrested last week.
A 17-year-old Clinton girl was arrested on charges of party to a crime for arson, criminal damage and theft, said Police Chief Dave Hooker.
The main fire caused $200,000 in damage to a home owned by First Presbyterian Church, 314 Church St. Investigators determined someone had tried to set playground equipment at the home on fire.
The girl was the last of four suspects involved with the arson, Hooker said. She was located by the Walworth County Sheriff's Department.
In late August, police arrested a 46-year-old woman and another 17-year-old girl, both of Clinton, in connection with the fire.
The case has been forwarded to the Rock County District Attorney's Office, Hooker said.
Hooker believes the department has "successfully" wrapped up the case.
