JANESVILLE—The city landfill will accept deer carcasses during the hunting season.

Hunters who process deer themselves must dispose of deer remains at the city's landfill. Carcasses placed on the curb with regular garbage won't be collected, according to the release.

Carcasses also won't be accepted if mixed with other trash.

Only Rock County residents are allowed to dispose of deer in the landfill, according to the release.

Deer carcasses will be accepted September through January from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays.

For more information, call the city's solid waste manager at 608-755-3110.
