Janesville's high school girls tennis teams suffered defeats to end the Big Eight Conference dual-meet portion of their season Tuesday.

Visiting Janesville Craig got a victory at No. 1 doubles from Michiko Fukushima and Meghan Anderson, but the Cougars were topped by Verona 6-1.

Madison West swept host Janesville Parker. Cassie Hanly fought to a tough 6-4, 6-3 defeat at No. 1 singles.

The city teams now turn their attention to the postseason.

"We're in good shape and shouldn't have to face too many of the top two seeds at conference," Craig coach Steven Mickelson said. "We're in sixth place in the league standings now, but we could make a move up the standings."

The Big Eight meet is Sept. 27-28.
