A union linked to Bernie Sanders and the single-payer health care movement has endorsed Randy Bryce's congressional bid, Bryce's campaign manager said.

Bryce is running for the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Paul Ryan in the 1st Congressional District next year.

National Nurses United, the first major backer of Sanders' presidential bid, was set to announce the endorsement today, said campaign manager David Keith.

Keith said the union helped form Sanders' Medicare-for-all health care proposal.

Bryce has one primary opponent, Cathy Myers of Janesville, who also supports single-payer, universal health care.

Keith said Bryce is willing to debate before the August 2018 primary, but he said he suspects more Democrats will enter the race, implying that it's too soon to debate.
