April 7, 1961 - September 3, 2017

Eric D. Berry, 56, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Delavan, WI. Ricky, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Chicago on April 7, 1961 to Amanda (Green) Berry and C.S Berry, who preceded him in death. Ricky's education was in Chicago, and, after high school, he worked various jobs before he found his calling to train to become a CNA and work in the Chicago area. In 1993, he relocated to South Bend, IN, where he started to work in homecare. After a injury, he was no longer able to work, and retired early. Those who knew him can remember his love for music and movies, and his fondness for wrestling and baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. On August 22, 2017, Ricky married his partner of a year, James Koshe, and was never happier. James was with him when he passed away, and was saddened by his passing.

Ricky leaves to cherish his memory: his partner, James Koshe, of Delavan; sister, Darlene Berry-Shipman of South Bend, IN; three nephews: Anthony (Ashley) Berry-Watts, Damien Shipman of South Bend, Christopher Berry of Loganport, IN; and one niece, Amanda Berry of Charlotte, NC; along with a host of family and friends. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Adrian Stevens of South Bend; and brother-in-law, James Shipman, of South Bend.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan.

The families would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone for their support and kind words. Thank you all.
