Dorothy Irene (Bessl) Heider died at the age of 95, at North Crest Assisted Living, Stevens Point on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Dorothy was born on February 27,1922 in “Rock County” to father Paul Bessel and mother Ione (Powell) Bessel. She married Joseph A. Heider on February 24, 1941. They had 3 children, and together farmed on Hwy. 26 between Milton and Janesville until Joe's death in 1971. Besides farming, she worked at several companies, retiring from Accudyne Corporation at the age of 76. She was very active in 4-H with her grandchildren, she was leader and superintendent with the dairy goat project, known to many as “Grandma” in the goat barn at the Rock County 4-H Fair. In her later years, she loved bowling and finally stopped at the age of 87 due to health reasons. She also found the love of travel. With her special niece, Phyllis Ruud, she visited Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Figi, Panama Canal and Hawaii. In 2010, she moved to her daughter's home in the Stevens Point area. She loved the outdoors, and spending time with her 3 special great-grandchildren: Hunter, Reagan and Meadow Vierck.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlie and Madonna Vierck, Iola, WI; son-in-law, Arnold Hoff of Milton; grandchildren: Antonette (Daniel) Cone, Beloit WI, Eugene Heider, Janesville, WI, James Heider Beloit, Nicholas and Nathan Hoff, Janesville, Joseph Vierck, Janesville, and John (Tracy) Vierck, Iola; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Carol) Bessel, Milton, WI; many nieces; nephews; and extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Heider; son, Anton J. Heider; daughter, Mary T. Hoff; great-great-granddaughter (our special little angel), Abigail Cone; great-grandson, Jacob Heider; brothers: William, Fred and Ralph; sisters: Evaline Wollinger, June Reilly and Florence Bessel; and special niece, Phyllis Ruud.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton with Fr. Dave Timmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of the services. Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton are assisting the family with arrangements.
