JANESVILLE—For the fourth year in a row, Tom "the Awesome Mailman" Hathaway is hosting a fundraiser to help local homeless people.

Hathaway has held an annual fundraiser at his home since 2014. He got the idea after meeting many less-fortunate residents through his job as a mail carrier.

Hathaway's efforts have raised more than $18,000 and truckloads of items over the past three years, according to a news release.

The fundraiser will benefit the GIFTS Men's Shelter, HealthNet of Rock County, Project 16:49, ECHO and House of Mercy. A new recipient this year is the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.

Guest speakers for each organization will be on hand during the event, according to the release.

The fundraiser will feature food and drinks, live music, a silent auction and 50/50 raffles, according to the release. Monetary donations and items from participating nonprofits' wish lists will be accepted.
