Craig tennis team goes to 2-0 in Big Eight

Janesville Craig went to 2-0 in Big Eight Conference girls tennis by defeating Madison East 6-1 on Tuesday.


The Cougars’ No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams each went to 8-0 on the year.


Myua Maslonka and Jordyn Schroeder won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, and Stephanie Wang and Madison Leggett won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.


“We’re looking strong,” Craig coach Steve Mickelson said.


The Cougars play at Sun Prairie on Tuesday night.


“That will be a good test,” Mickelson said.



Singles—Maycee Maslonka (JC) def. Grace Rider, 6-2, 6-2; Amelia Hoffman (ME) def. Karol Lunenburg, 6-1, 7-5; Lucia Hyzer (JC) def. Sa Dee Decorah, 6-4, 7-5; Chie Wolf (JC) def. Callie Paulowski, 6-0, 6-1.


Doubles—Michiko Fukushima-Allison Hainstock (JC) def. Calyn Danick-Emily Patzer, 6-0, 6-0; Mya Maslonka-Jordyn Schroeder (JC) def. Lydia Marszal-Destinee Vela, 6-0, 6-0; Stephanie Wang-Madison Leggett (JC) def. Gemma Koester-Jess-Kelsang Tsomo, 6-0, 6-0


La Follette 6, Parker 0—La Follette dropped Janesville Parker to 0-2 on the conference season.


Viking freshman Lydia Quade registered the lone victory with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles.


“She found a way to win,” said Parker coach Jon Lauer. “She’s a great competitor.”


The Vikings play Madison East at home Thursday.
