Vera Mae Schiller, age 95, of Janesville died August 20, 2017 at Cedar Crest Health Center. Vera was born in Dubuque, IA on May 24, 1922, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Beckett) Shult. She graduated from Janesville High School, and Bayless Business School in Dubuque, IA. Vera married Frederick Schiller on June 9, 1945. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1987. Vera was employed as a bookkeeper for many years for numerous area businesses, including Fisher Body, Elliot’s Dress Shop, and retired from the Ben Franklin Store in 1990. She was a member of First Congregational Church, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. Vera was active as a volunteer with ECHO for over 30 years, a volunteered for Meals On Wheels and the American Red Cross blood bank.

Vera Schiller is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Steve) Stone of Florida and Kathy (Ed) Meek Martinez of Janesville; three grandchildren: Curtis Stone, Alexa (Mickey) Howell, Blake Bufalo; two brothers, Jack (Beverly) Herrington, and Tom (Jackie) Herrington; and one sister, Donna (Roger) Sundby; as well as her life-time companion, Kenneth Arndt’s children: Steven, Kristine, Carol, Keith, Elizabeth and Joan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son-in-law, Jake Meek; her companion, Ken Arndt; and her life-long friend, Beverly Richardson.

A time to celebrate Vera’s life will be from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 North Wright Road, Janesville with a time of sharing to follow at Noon Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Vera’s memory may be made to ECHO.
