Braeden Mohr ran for 172 yards and a touchdown, though it still wasn't enough to secure a win for the Elkhorn Elks on Friday.

New Berlin West shut out the Elks for three quarters and piled up 311 team rushing yards to earn a 26-10 nonconference win at Elkhorn.

The Elks led 10-7 after the first quarter, but Robey Joeseph's 71-yard touchdown run with just over six minutes until halftime put the Vikings in front for good.

Tyler Stoltenburg hauled in a 30-yard pass from Joeseph to extend the lead to 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Elkhorn (0-1) faces another nonconference foe, Mayville, next Friday.

Will Keller scored on a 12-yard run to pull Badger within a point with 53 seconds to play, and head coach Matt Hensler elected to go for two to avoid overtime.

Keller successfully ran in the conversion and Greendale's hopes for the win were finally dashed when Nick Aufmuth picked off Panthers quarterback Mitchell Gnadt on the ensuing drive.

Keller made a highlight-reel touchdown catch over three defenders to give Badger a 23-17 lead with 7:48 left and finished with 84 yards rushing on 11 carries. Colton Surges threw for 179 yards and a pair of scores. Badger's defense intercepted Gnadt three times.
