In the Aug. 7 story (Page 1A), “Unlocking secrets of breast cancer’s exceptional survivors,” prayer was not mentioned. The whole article was about this gene, that gene and this pill, that pill.

There was no mention of the mind of the patient. Job 3:25 from the Bible says, “The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me.” Fear is the key. The pill pushers push fear very hard on TV, four to five times every hour, all day long.

Cancer is a big money maker. We celebrate cancer month, hold cancer runs and create cancer societies and clubs. The race for a cure is on the back of a snail.

The late pediatrician Robert S. Mendelsohn rejected the view that medicine is a science. Almost everything doctors do is based on a conjecture, a guess, a clinical impression, a whim, a hope, a wish, an opinion or a belief.

Thus, it’s not a science at all but a belief system, the religion of modern medicine.
