Thank you to the Janesville Police Department for providing a safe environment for a peaceful demonstration from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. A group of 30 or more from varied backgrounds took a stand against violence, racism and hate groups. Restoring peace in Charlottesville, Virginia, was part of the message.

No torches were lit. No pepper spray was used. Bullets weren’t fired. Property was not damaged. Passersby were not hurling insults. Instead, people waved and horns honked in support. This is what democracy looks like.
