Milton girls golf wins third straight tournament title
Milton High's girls golf team continues to impress.
The Red Hawks claimed their third straight tournament title Thursday by winning the Milton Best Ball Invitational at Oak Ridge.
Led by the medalist team of Mia Seeman and Alyssa Cowley, Milton finished with a 228 total. Oregon was second at 263 and Mukwonago third at 270. Janesville Craig finished sixth at 290, while Janesville Parker had an incomplete score.
Seeman and Cowley shot an even-par 72 in the best ball format, shooting 1-under on the front nine and 1-over on the back. Teammates Taylor and Callie Hakala were second with a 76 and Claudia Seeman and Holly Gunnink third thanks to an 80.
Milton coach Kirk Wieland said his team's consistency has been the key.
"Other than the fact that we didn't finish very well today, I was happy with our play," Wieland said. "All three groups made bogey on the last hole, but if that's the worst thing to complain about that means they played good golf before that.
"We've gotten off to a good start to the season, and hopefully, we can keep it up."
Parker's top team of Sophia Dooman and Ashlyn Burdick fired an 81 to finish fourth.
Craig was led by an 85 from the team of Kallie Lux and Morgan Knilans.
