A long day for the Janesville 15U Babe Ruth team ended in a split Saturday.

Early in the day, the local team beat Camas-Washougal (Washington) 8-3 in a World Series game that was postponed Friday due to rain. In a nightcap against the host team from Lawrenceburg, Tennesee, Janesville fell 12-7.

Janesville is now 2-1 in pool play, where it plays its final game today against Bismarck, North Dakota.

In the first game Saturday, Eric Hughes, Micah Overley, Cody Logterman and Dawson Draves each had two hits as Janesville scored in five different innings. It scored three runs in the top of the first and led 4-3 after three before plating two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

In the nightcap, Logterman blasted a home run to left that cleared a fence that is labeled as being 375 feet from home plate. His three-run homer cut Janesville’s deficit to 7-4 in the sixth inning, but Lawrenceburg held on to improve to 3-0 in pool play.

Janesville is slated to play at 6 p.m. today.
