TOWN OF DELAVAN—A Whitewater man died Thursday morning after crashing his car into a tree in the town of Delavan, according to a Walworth County sheriff's news release.

The release identified the man as Brian G. Blucher, 26.

The sheriff's office at 6:10 a.m. received a report of a car vs. tree crash on County P north of County M in the town of Delavan, according to the release. First responders saw a red 1997 Dodge Intrepid up against a tree.

An initial investigation suggests that Blucher was southbound on County P when he lost control, the release states. The car left the road and struck a tree on the east side of County P.

The investigation suggests speed was a factor in the crash, according to the release. Blucher was not wearing his seat belt and was the only occupant of the car.

The Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced Blucher dead at 7 a.m, the release states.

Town and city of Delavan police, city of Delavan fire and rescue and Paratech Ambulance Service also responded to the crash, according to the release.

The crash is still under investigation.
