Janesville School District announces 2016-17 retirees
JANESVILLE—Twelve staff members retired at the end of the 2016-17 school year, the Janesville School District announced.
All retirees had 10 or more years of experience in the district. Overall, the 12 retirees had 258 years of experience.
The retirees are:
Ruth Banwell, 18 years' experience. Banwell was the orchestra director at Marshall Middle School and a fifth-grade strings teacher at Monroe, Jefferson, Harrison and Roosevelt elementary schools.
Pamela Burns, 17 years' experience. Burns was a Title 1 reading teacher, a Community Learning Center teacher and a kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She won the Herb Kohl Education Foundation Fellowship Award in 2006.
Mary Demrow, 18 years' experience. Demrow was a third-grade teacher at Madison Elementary School.
Bob Eicher, 24 years' experience. Eicher taught science at Parker High School and served as head coach for boys golf and as an adviser for many clubs and projects.
Sue Ann Eicher, 31 years' experience. Eicher retired from Jackson Elementary School as the school psychologist and academic learning coach.
Susanne Herman, 16 years' experience. Herman was an early childhood special education teacher at Van Buren Elementary School.
Debra A. Hilger, 19 years' experience. Hilger taught science in the school district and was the chemical hygiene instruction manager.
Theresa Nehls, 35 years' experience. Nehls was an early childhood special education teacher, kindergarten teacher and a looping teacher for first and second grades at Kennedy Elementary School.
Delores Olver, 12 years' experience. Olver worked as a kindergarten unit leader, a talented and gifted advocate, and a summer school teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She was also named Jefferson PTA Teacher of the Year.
Mary Scharenbroch, 20 years' experience. Scharenbach was a speech and language pathologist who worked at schools across the district.
Kurt Westenberger, 23 years' experience. Westenberger taught English at Craig High School.
Denise Danielson Wimann, 25 years' experience. Wimann taught family and consumer science at her alma mater, Craig High School. She also worked as a substitute teacher for students with emotional disabilities.
