Rage earns top playoff seed
Dan Roberts accounted for seven touchdowns to lead the Rock County Rage to a 53-6 victory over the Kenosha Cougars in Iron Athletes Football League action Saturday night at Milton High School.
Roberts completed 14 of 17 passes for 277 yards and five touchdowns and ran five times for 125 yards and two more scores as the Rage improved to 8-1 and clinched the top playoff seed in the IAFL playoffs.
Roberts ran 25 yards for the opening score of the game, and hit Jermar Ayers with a 20-yard scoring pass later in the quarter. Tony Smidl kicked both extra points.
The Rage took a 40-0 lead by halftime with four second-quarter touchdowns. Austin Ryan caught TD passes of 30 and 21 yards from Roberts; Brennon McElrath ran a yard for another score, and Pat Rohde caught a 5-yard TD pass from Roberts.
Roberts ran a quarterback sneak for a 71-yard TD in the third quarter, and Ryan caught his third TD pass of the game that covered 33 yards to conclude the scoring.
Ryan’s three TD catches covered 84 yards. Ayers had four receptions for 78 yards.
Defensively, Kevin Haley had an interception, and Devin Stokes forced a fumble.
Greg Davis had two sacks to increase his career total to 126. Tom Thymer and Cordell Dixon also each recorded a sack.
The Rage host the Rockford Raptors at 7 p.m. at Milton High School next Saturday night.
