Elkhorn teen charged with sexual assault against younger girls
ELKHORN—An Elkhorn teen is accused of groping two girls and forcibly having sex with another 16-year-old girl last month, according to a criminal complaint.
Mitchel C. Lothes, 18, of W5258 Aweogon Trail is charged in Walworth County Court with second-degree sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault of a child under 16, child enticement and sexual intercourse with a child.
On July 14, Elkhorn police spoke with the first alleged victim, 14, who told them Lothes tried to inappropriately grab her and a 12-year-old girl July 10, according to the complaint.
The 14-year-old girl told police she and the 12-year-old wore sweatpants the next night in hopes that Lothes would not touch them again.
The next night, the two girls said Lothes touched them inappropriately before he carried the 14-year-old girl into a bedroom and pinned her down, according to the complaint. The girl said she kneed Lothes in the stomach and told him to stop.
A Walworth County sheriff's deputy on July 20 spoke with a 16-year-old girl who said Lothes forcibly had sex with her July 17, according to the complaint.
The 16-year-old said her parents called her cellphone, but Lothes put her phone on silent mode and became "bossy," according to the complaint.
When she finally left the house, the girl said Lothes told her, “If you tell anyone, you won't see what's coming,” according to the complaint.
The 14-year-old girl said Lothes previously showed her a gun that he carries in his backpack, and that made her afraid, according to the complaint.
Lothes is due in court at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, for a preliminary hearing.
