17-year-old killed in town of Delavan crash

TOWN OF DELAVAN—A 17-year-old girl died Friday after her car collided with a semitrailer truck on County O.

At 10:06 a.m. Friday, the Town of Delavan Police and Fire departments were called to a two-vehicle accident on County O, south of Interstate 43, according to a news release from the Town of Delavan Police Department.

The 17-year-old Darien girl was traveling south on County O when she crossed over the center line and collided with a semitrailer truck driven by a 28-year-old man from Elkhorn, the news release said.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old female passenger in her car received minor injuries, as did the driver of the semitrailer truck.

The Town of Delavan Police Department and the Walworth County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.

At this time, neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash, the news release said.

The name of the victim and others involved are being withheld pending notification of family members.
