Hedberg Public Library director voted chairman of state council
JANESVILLE—Hedberg Public Library Director Bryan McCormick has been elected chairman of the Council on Library and Network Development for 2017 and 2018.
Gov. Scott Walker appointed McCormick to the council in 2013, and he has served as vice chairman for three years, according to a news release.
The council was created in 1979 to advise the state superintendent of public instruction and ensure all Wisconsin residents have access to library and information services. The 19-member council identifies and studies issues affecting state libraries and information services, according to the release.
“I have greatly enjoyed my time working with the other COLAND members from around the state on all the projects and activities that have helped to better serve our library patrons,” McCormick said in the release.
“In the coming year, we'll continue to improve the library experience through things like greater bandwidth, career development programs and redesigning our public library systems to be more effective and efficient throughout the state.”
