Ronald L. Stack, age 79, of Janesville passed away Friday, July 14, 2017. He was born on November 25, 1937 in Chicago, IL, the son of Lawrence J. and Lena (Hansen) Stack. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for 8 years, where he was called upon for the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Kathleen M. “Kate” Reilly on May 21, 1960 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Ron was employed and retired as an engineer for Wisconsin Bell/AT&T. After retiring, he worked at Ace Hardware and also Floral Expressions. Ron was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, where he had served as President. Ron proudly took part in the 1984 Summer Olympics Torch Run, which carried the flame across the United States from New York to Los Angeles. He was also in charge of the Wisconsin Olympic Torch Run for the first Badger State Games in 1985. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church.

He is survived by: his wife, Kathleen M. “Kate” Stack; two children, David (Gina) Stack of Spring Green, WI and Mary Jo (Dan) Boyd of Janesville; six grandchildren: Ryan Stack (Caitlin), Matthew (Kristin) Boyd, Mitchell Boyd (Rachel), Carri (Ben) Dietzman, James Stack and Danielle (Marc) Perkins; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Henry Dietzman; a sister, Jane (Jack) Maloney of Racine.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home, with Fr. Brian Dulli presiding. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum.
