ELKHORN—A Genoa City man charged with sixth-offense OWI who reportedly got in an accident told police he needed a ride home because he had “drank too much alcohol,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Walworth County Court.

At about 4:01 p.m. June 23, Lake Geneva Police say Kyle T. Helgeland, 35, of N277 Thunderbird Road, operated a vehicle at the 800 block of Geneva Street, just west of Broad Street, according to the complaint. No information about the accident is listed in the complaint.

Police said Helgeland appeared to be intoxicated. Police found a 12-ounce Miller High Life bottle in the car.

Helgeland has five previous OWI convictions for violations in 2007, 2008, 2012 twice and 2014, according to the complaint.
