Darien man convicted of fourth OWI

ELKHORN—A Darien man was convicted in Walworth County Court of fourth-offense OWI after police stopped him in April, according to court records.

At about 6:22 p.m. April 15, police stopped Dietrich A. Nietfeldt II, 44, of 137 Sharon St., on South Shore Drive south of Holig Lane, town of Delavan, according to a criminal complaint. Nietfeldt told police he had consumed a cocktail of vodka and Kool-Aid.

Town of Delavan police say Nietfeldt was not wearing a seatbelt while operating the vehicle, according to the complaint. Police say they found an open cup with vodka in the car.

Nietfeldt pleaded guilty June 28, according to court records. He entered the county's OWI Treatment Court program.

Nietfeldt has previous OWI convictions for violations in 1995, 2000 and 2008, according to the complaint.
