JANESVILLE—The Janesville Police Department is reporting localized street flooding throughout the city Wednesday.

Storm sewers were unable to keep up with heavy rain Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Some manhole covers have become dislodged and might be missing, and high water has caused numerous vehicles to become disabled, according to a news release from the police department.

Centerway between Academy and High streets was closed because of flooding, the police department reported. The area has reopened, but more rain is expected later Wednesday.

Rainfall measured more than 2.5 inches at The Gazette office downtown.

Drivers are urged to use caution until the water recedes.
