TOWN OF SHARON—A town of Sharon teen drove through a stop sign Wednesday and crashed into the car of a man who later died at the scene, according to a Walworth County Sheriff's Office news release.

Loren Huffman, 67, town of Sharon, suffered critical injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. The driver of the other vehicle was Isabel Lavariega Bazan, 19.

Sheriff's deputies at about 2:16 p.m. Wednesday responded to a report of a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 67 and County K in the town of Sharon, according to the release. The teen's 2005 Ford Taurus was northbound on County K and failed to stop at stop sign before colliding with Huffman's 2008 Subaru Outback westbound on Highway 67, according to the release.

Both were the only occupants of their cars, according to the release.

“Isabel Lavariega Bazan sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital,” the release states.

She was treated and released at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, hospital spokeswoman Trish Reed said Thursday.

The Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced Huffman dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m., according to the release. The crash remains under investigation.
