Woman charged with injurying her children in drunken-driving crash

JANESVILLE—A Janesville woman is facing several charges after police say she drove drunk with her children in her car.

Tessa P. Black, 21, of 1212 Conde St., No. 208, Janesville has been charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated and causing injury to a child in the car. It was listed as her second drunken-driving offense. She was also cited for inattentive driving and operating with a revoked license.

According to the criminal complaint:

Janesville police were called to a traffic accident at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of South Main Street.

Black told police she had reached down to pick up her phone just before she ran into the tree.

A 2-year-old was sitting in the back seat with a lap belt on. A 1-year-old was in a car seat but not strapped in. The 2-year-old had an abrasion and swelling on his head. The 1-year-old had a small abrasion on his hip.
