Parker softball closes season with a win
The Janesville Parker softball team is ready for tournament play.
The Vikings scored four runs in the second inning en route to a 6-5 victory over host Madison Memorial in a Big Eight Conference finale Thursday afternoon.
The victory followed up a doubleheader split against Madison La Follette on Wednesday.
“This gives a little momentum going into next week,” Parker coach Steve Heilman said.
Reave Myszewski pitched the first four innings, and Julianna Getka finished up with three scoreless innings.
“I thought Myszewski pitched well, and Julianna did a nice job in the final three innings,” Heilman said. “She’s coming on.”
Jordyn Nenno gave the Vikings the lead with a solo homer in the first inning.
After the Spartans tied the score in the bottom of the first, Parker took command with its four-run second.
Myszewski helped her own cause with a two-run homer, and Bri Garey and Cam Rosga each added an RBI single.
The Vikings finished 6-12 in the Big Eight and 8-14 in the regular season. They open WIAA tournament play Wednesday at Beloit.
