Persico leads Snappers past TinCaps

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA--Luke Persico homered and had three hits as the Beloit Snappers topped the Fort Wayne TinCaps 9-5 on Friday.

Beloit took the lead in the first when it scored three runs, including an RBI double by Kyle Nowlin and an RBI single by Jason Goldstein.

After Beloit added three runs, the TinCaps cut into the deficit with five runs in the sixth inning, including a bases-clearing triple by Eguy Rosario.

The Snappers later added a run in the seventh and two in the eighth. In the seventh, Persico hit a solo home run, while Nate Mondou hit a two-run double in the eighth.

Nick Highberger (1-0) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief while Fort Wayne starter Will Headean (1-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game.
