TOWN OF LIMA—A Janesville man is dead and a Whitewater woman in critical but stable condition after a two-car, head-on traffic crash Monday on Highway 59, near East Gould Road in the town of Lima, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release.

The 59-year-old man was driving east on Highway 59 at 5:43 p.m. when he met a vehicle traveling west in his eastbound lane of traffic causing their cars to collide head on, according to the release.

Upon arrival, firefighters and paramedics extricated both drivers from their vehicles. The Janesville man was dead at the scene and the Whitewater woman was flown to University Hospital, Madison, where she is reported to be in critical but stable condition, according to the release.
