Cougars, Vikings fall in Big Eight tennis

The No. 1 doubles team of Gavin Buus and Max Kisting has been the highlight of the Janesville Parker High boys tennis team early this season.

Buss and Kisting picked up the Vikings’ sole victory Thursday in a 6-1 loss to Madison East.

“They’ve been playing awfully well,” said Parker coach Mike Fuhrmann. “It was a good win.”

The team will be out to extend its success at the Fort Atkinson quadrangular tonight. Parker, Milton and Elkhorn will compete with the host school.

Doubles—Gavin Buus-Max Kisting (JP) def. Ian Stahl-Andre DuGresne, 6-2, 6-0; Robbie Doherty-Soren Gotchall (ME) def. Adam Varga-Garrett Masterson, 7-5, 6-4; Eli Resnick-Turner Entmann (ME) def. Andrew Cunningham-Garrhett Bullen, 6-1, 6-0.

•  Sun Prairie 7, Craig 0—The Cardinals won all seven matches on the road in straight sets.

Craig coach Steven Mickelson praised No. 3 and No. 4 singles players Aidan Eno and Ben Pierson.

“Those were their first matches in those spots, and they played pretty well against tough opponents,” Mickelson said. “It was cold and windy and not the best tennis conditions, but we played as hard as we could.”

Craig hosts Badger, Fort Atkinson and Milton in a quadrangular Saturday.
