Zimmerman helps Parker golfers go low
The Janesville Parker High golf squad enjoyed the cold and windy conditions Thursday.
Matt Zimmerman shot an even-par 72 and the Vikings defeated both Madison La Follette and Verona in a Big Eight Conference-opening dual meet at Riverside Golf Course.
“That’s the best round we’ve had in years,” Parker coach Bob Eicher said of the Vikings’ 322. La Follette had a 358 and Verona a 359.
Zimmerman led the way with his even-par round.
“He was stoked,” Eicher said. “He was in a zone today. He was plus-1 on the side of the green on No. 17 and he chipped in for birdie. Then we went down and parred 18. It was a great round.”
Michael Henry added a 79.
“He had a good round striking the ball,” Eicher said.
Parker, Craig and Beloit will compete in a triangular meet today at Glen Erin.
