King's hat trick leads Parker to victory
Janesville Parker’s girls soccer team perservered Thursday night.
The Vikings trailed by two goals in the first half and fell behind again in the second but rallied for a 4-3 Big Eight Conference home victory over Madison La Follette.
Freshman forward Hallie King notched a hat trick, including scoring the game-tying and winning goals off passes from senior Alissa Cassady in a span of a little over two minutes late in the match.
“One thing I like about this team is they go in with a game plan and they go in always feeling like they can get a win,” Parker coach Abe Nelson said. “They didn’t get down on themselves.”
La Follette grabbed a two-goal lead in the first half, but King scored her first goal with less than a minute left to cut the deficit in half.
Freshman Baleigh Pajerski scored early in the second off a free kick, but La Follette regained the lead with less than 15 minutes remaining.
King forged another tie by scoring at 79:22, and Cassady found her again for a goal at 81:31 to lead Parker to victory.
“Alissa made some great passes into the middle to get Hallie free, and Hallie finished them beautifully both times,” Nelson said. “Hallie is just finishing everything right now.”
Junior Elexus Vike made 11 saves for the Vikings, only surrendering goals on a penalty kick and a pair of breakaways.
Parker plays at Madison East on Tuesday.
