JANESVILLE—The city warned some Janesville residents have received fraudulent notices stating the city has changed its address for paying utility bills, according to a news release.

The fake notices direct customers to pay their utility bills to a Menomonee Falls address and includes an invalid phone number. Janesville hasn't changed its address for paying utility bills and asks customers to disregard the notices, according to the release.

Customers who've received the notices are asked to provide a copy to the clerk-treasurer's office, 18 N. Jackson St., to help staff understand the potential scam. Residents also can contact the Janesville Police Department when they receive questionable notices, according to the release.

For more information, call the clerk-treasurer's office at 608-755-3070.
