Brews & Blues: Lake Geneva festival is best of both worlds
LAKE GENEVA—Craft beer has become a growing trend in recent years, and breweries have popped up all across the U.S.
Finding your favorite beer for the summer shouldn't be too difficult. If it is, you might get a few good ideas this weekend at the sixth annual Craft Brews & Chicago Blues event at Geneva National Golf Club & Resort.
More than 30 breweries will be represented, bringing with them more than 100 beers and brewery representatives to provide all of the knowledge you need to know about each individual brew.
While you're sipping away at your artfully crafted beer, you can sit back, relax and listen the sounds of The Big Al Wetzel Band, a popular Delavan group that will perform throughout the event.
A silent auction to benefit the Lakeland Animal Shelter will follow the performance by the band, Duchemin said.
Connoisseurs and greenhorns alike can learn the finer points of each beer, including ingredients and pairings, said Ashley Duchemin, marketing and special events coordinator with Nei-Turner Media Group, which is organizing the event.
Brewery representatives also will be able to explain the intricacies of “flavor notes” and offer any other information you might need, Duchemin said.
Attendees generally are diehard beer fans, but that doesn't mean that newcomers can't enjoy the event, as well, she said.
For those seeking a bit more privacy, a VIP lounge will be provided, Duchemin said. Only those who purchase VIP tickets will be allowed inside, and the lounge will offer a few beers unavailable to the rest of the crowd. Food samples also will be provided by caterer Crafted Americana, Duchemin said.
Organizers also plan to provide a photo booth so revelers can take home some more permanent memories.
