JANESVILLE—Janesville's Downtown Development Alliance is hosting a “town-hall”-style meeting to familiarize local businesses, entrepreneurs and startups with a new, local business development program.

The town hall is planned at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Venue, 37 S. Water St., Janesville.

The meeting is open to local businesses in Rock County and includes a presentation by Janesville Innovation Center Operations Director Mike Mathews.

Mathews also is program director for the Rock County Entrepreneurial Business Development Program, a new regional resource that's free to startups and small businesses in Rock County.

The program is intended to help small business owners, entrepreneurs and startups evaluate their business concepts and sales, marketing and operations needs.

The innovation center in January was awarded a $66,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to help fund the Rock County Entrepreneurial Business Development Program.

The town hall will include a talk by city of Janesville Economic Development Director Gale Price on help the city can offer on business strategic planning and growth.
