UW-Whitewater baseball splits doubleheader

UW-Whitewater's baseball team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday.

St. Scholastica scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game and scored two runs in the 11th in rallying for a 10-8 win.

Fourth-ranked Whitewater won the first game of the nonconference doubleheader 10-5 in the Warhawks' home opener.

Whitewater (10-2) won game one thanks to two RBI each from Blake Fleischman, Jordan Kuczynski and Trent Borgardt. Austin Jones improved to 4-0 on the season, allowing one earmed run in seven innings. Ankur Shah picked up his first save of the season with three scoreless innings of relief.

St. Scholastica (5-4) banged out 15 hits in game two in picking up the win. Steven eutzling was the hitting star thanks to a 4-for-6 performance at the plate with three RBI and four runs scored.

Kevin White homered in the loss for Whitewater.

Whitewater hosts Ripon College in a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5.
