John Arthur Forbish, 81, of Harvard, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 4, 1935 in Harvard, the son of the late Arthur V. and Grace M. (Schmid) Forbish. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance and conducting from the University of Illinois. He was a musician, teacher, choir director, and entertainer for over 50 years. On December 26, 1992, John married the love of his life, and best friend, Barb Britt. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Musician’s Union, the Knights of Columbus and he was the founder of the Queen’s Vagabonds Ecumenical choir.

Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Barb; his children: Larry (Katie) Forbish of Roanoke, VA, Patricia Forbish of Janesville, WI; and Jennifer (Scott) Morris of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren: Katelyn Forbish, Chris (Diana) Morris, Ashley, Alex and Vanessa Morris, and Gabrielle Forbish; one sister, Sylvia (Richard) Blee of Brevard, N.C. And, John and Barb always thought of Keith (Teri) McCloud as their children, and Samantha, Kayla and Daniele as their grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Lisa (Blee) Campbell.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. til 8 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will be St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s name for Masses at St. Joseph Church, or to the family. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.saundersmcfarlin.net.
