Eleanor Ackley died on March 15, 2017. She was the daughter of Andrew Lunde and Myrtle Selje Lunde, born December 17, 1929 in Morrisonville, WI, on Grandpa Amund Selje’s farm. The family moved to Madison in 1938, and Eleanor lived in Madison/Monona for 42 years, before moving to Janesville in 1980. She married Donald J. Ackley on August 26, 1950. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. Eleanor graduated from Madison East High School in 1947, and attended Madison College. She was employed at the University of Wisconsin Accounting Department, and, after the children were raised, worked as a secretary for 15 years. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 20 years, and was a member of First Lutheran Church and its Ruth Circle.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ed) Conner of Buffalo Grove, IL, son, Stephen (Patricia) Ackley of Janesville; four grandsons: Andrew and Scott (Jill) Conner, and Kevin and Ryan Ackley; sisters, Mildred Davis of Oshkosh, and Lorraine Howard of Mesa, AZ; and brother-in-law, William Rosensteel of Pismo Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Alvin (Betty) Lunde; sister, Joan Rosensteel; brothers-in-law, Robert Davis and Don Howard; and sister-in-law, Betty Lunde.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Janesville on Thursday, March 23. Visitation begins at 11 a.m., service at noon, with lunch to follow.
