September 3, 1951 - February 14, 2017

John N. Hassinger, age 65, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care with his loving family by his side. He was born in Janesville on September 3, 1951, the son of George H. and Ida (Nunes) Hassinger. After graduating from Parker Senior High School in 1969, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. John worked for JATCO, owned and operated John Hassinger Trucking, and then worked for Lear Seating, retiring in 2008. John was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Packers, Badgers, and the Cubs, where he fulfilled his lifelong wish of seeing them win the 2016 World Series. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. John’s epic sense of humor and quick wit was by far his most outstanding characteristic, and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his loving children: Jon Ryan Hassinger of Janesville, Ross (Mandy) Hassinger of New York and Calley Hassinger of Tennessee; grandchildren: Sierra, Sydney, Cole, Aiden, Emily and Josephine; best friend and loving companion, Tina Pfeiffer, her sons: Louie and Lance; siblings: Terri (John) Runde, Jeff (Nancy) Hassinger and Bill (April) Hassinger; mother of his children, Connie; and numerous other extended family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Hope.

A Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. It was John’s wishes that his friends and family gather for a celebration of his life and reminisce about all the good times. Join us at the Moose Club after the military honors to share memories of John. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org.
