WATCH: Final downtown parking plaza span demolished
JANESVILLE—After about a month of work, the fourth and final section of the downtown parking plaza has come tumbling down.
Crews demolished the northwest corner of the deck Wednesday. The remaining work is to remove the causeway of crushed concrete excavators have been driving on in the river.
Crews have detailed data about how deep the river is at several points so they know how much of the causeway to dig out before their work is complete, said city engineer Matt McGrath.
The river depth varies east to west in the stretch where the deck was. Crews will leave some rubble behind in the deeper pockets, which are eroded scour holes, to make the river depth more uniform, McGrath said.
