H.S. boys hoops: Whitewater tops Clinton in OT

Whitewater High’s boys basketball team worked overtime for a Rock Valley Conference crossover victory Tuesday night.

The Whippets scored the first five points of the extra session and hung on for a 63-58 win over visiting Clinton.

Whitewater improved to 8-9 overall and 6-6 in the RVC North. The Cougars fell to 6-10 and 4-8 in the South.

Clinton forced overtime with an 8-0 run to end regulation.

Daniel Fuller had 16 points to lead Whitewater, while Zach Krause had a game-high 17 points for Clinton.

•  Edgerton 57, Parkview 51—The Crimson Tide won at home to run their winning streak to five straight games.

Alec Johnson scored 19 points and Daniel Zeimet added 17 for Edgerton, now 8-9 overall and 6-6 in the RVC North.

Josh Soderstrom had a dozen points for the Vikings.

BADGER SOUTH

•  Fort Atkinson 59, Milton 49—Mark Bowditch scored 17 points, but the Blackhawks pulled away from the visiting Red Hawks for a Badger South Conference victory.

The contest was close until the final minutes. A field goal by Jesse Kutz and four free throws by Connor O’Brien gave Fort Atkinson (2-5 in Badger, 4-13 overall) the final margin.

Noah Phillips added 10 points for the Red Hawks, who fell to 0-8 in the league and 2-16 overall.

NONCONFERENCE

•  Delavan-Darien 77, Jefferson 63—The host Comets built a 20-plus-point lead in the second half and withstood a mild Eagles rally to earn a nonconference victory.

The Comets improved to 10-7 overall as Seth Kirsch scored 22 points and Logan Rios added 20. Jayce Crull and Brandon Edmonds added 14 and 10, respectively.

Ryan Brost led the Eagles with 16 points. Brost and Zack Peterson each had three 3-pointers as Jefferson hit nine from long range.
