Elkhorn girls end long losing streak

Elkhorn’s girls basketball team put its long losing streak to rest with an impressive second half Friday night.

The Elks scored 29 points in the second half on the way to a 43-36 Southern Lakes Conference victory.

Elkhorn won for the first time beating Westosha on Feb. 24, 2015.

Riley Rand scored a game-high 13 points and Chloe Ehrhardt added 10 for the Elks.

Lindsey Kimpler had a dozen for the Falcons.

 Wilmot 58, Delavan-Darien 51—The Comets trailed by just one at halftime, but the host Panthers hung on thanks to late free throws.

Kenna Timmerman led the Comets with 12 points. Sophomore Kat Lopez, who was out the past six months with a knee injury, returned and scored 11.

 Waterford 68, Badger 52—Katien Rohner scored 28 points and the Wolverines pulled away in the second half after leading by just one at halftime.

Courtney Oomens led the Badgers with 13 points. She made two of Badger’s eight 3-pointers.

 Elkhorn 66, Westosha 64 (OT)—Alex Easterday scored all seven of the Elks points in overtime to lead the Elks to a home victory over the first-place Falcons.

Easterday finished with 20 points, while Ross Ingersoll had a game-high 29, including 16 in the second half, when Elkhorn recovered from a three-point deficit to force OT.

 Waterford 63, Badger 38—Mike Schimelfenyg scored 20 points, and the Wolverines blitzed the visiting Badgers for 47 second-half points to run away with a league win.

Mason DuMez scored 12 points to lead the Badgers.
