Shirley W. Brenz, 96, of Stoughton, WI, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Stoughton Hospital. She was born September 29, 1920 in Belvidere, IL the daughter of Warren T. and Irene (Thompson) Berg. Shirley was a graduate of Belvidere High School. She was a WWII veteran, serving with the Army Air Corp. Shirley married Gerald J. Brenz on August 21, 1940. They spent 56 loving years together until he predeceased her on October 18, 1996. Shirley was formerly employed by Arthur Potts D.D.S. as a dental assistant, as well as Yates America as the advertising manager, both in Beloit, WI. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. Shirley was a Cub Scout den mother and a Brownie Troop leader. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crafts, and her daily indulgence of O-Ke-Doke Cheese Popcorn.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Elaine) Brenz of Stoughton, WI, and Deborah Jackson of South Beloit, IL; son-in-law, Gerald Jackson of South Beloit, IL; grandchildren: Connie (Eric Trotter) Jackson, Graham Brenz, and Gregory (Ruth Ann) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Caila Petrie, Emmeline and Everett Jackson; sister-in-law, Joyce Berg; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers: Lowell Berg, Justin Bonnicksen, and Tom Bonnicksen; and sisters, Janet Badynski and Beverly Retterer.
Funeral service for Shirley will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
